TUMAHU NEWS

On Monday night the Pungarehu Ping Pong Club paid a vist to Tumahu and entered into a friendly contest with tl»e local- players. The visitors were much too good and had a comfortable victory. The Tumahu players intend visiting Pungarehu on Monday to endeavour to regain their lost laurels. In spite of the late night on Monday a large number gathered for the usual fortnightly ’euchre and dance party. The prizes were won by Mesdames Barley corn, and Norgato and s. Julian and S. Harvey. The posts and wire are now at the •school grounds, and as soon as circumstances permit the school . .committee proposes to call a working-bee in order that the school grouujs may be fenced. Arrangements for the euchre and dance which the school committee is holding in the hall on July 31 are well in hand. They are offering larger prize? than usual and are catering for a large crowd. . In the past several cars have come from Pungarehu to every dance which has been held in the Tumahu Hall. Last week three cars left Tumahu to attend the Pungarehu dance. The visitors were well attended to and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mr. and Mrs. D. Fox have returned home. ..,•, 'l. Mrs. Stevenson and family, who have been at. Hawera and Mokoia for some weeks, have now returned to Tumahu. The Misses Watkin are at present on a visit to Huntervills.
