TARANAKI TO PLAY WANGANUI.

The Taranaki A Rugby team will play Wanganui A at New Plymouth this afternoon and Taranaki B will play Wanganui B at Wanganui. Taranaki’s record to date is; Lost to Wellington, 14 to 6; beat Wanganui, 17 to 9; beat Waikato, 5 to 9; beat Southland, 22. to 15. Matches to be •played are:—August 1, v. Taranaki will ho seen in action for the fifth time this season when they meet Wanganui in the return match at New Plymouth. When the teams met at, Wanganui on Juno 3 Taranaki won by 17 points to 9, but it was not until the closing stages of the game that the team’s condition definitely gave an advantage. The Wanganui team which arrived in New . Plymouth last night is a much stronger combination than that which met Taranaki on. the first occasion, and the players are very fit. The Taranaki team has been improved, as was shown by the match against Southland a fortnight ago. The same back combination has been selected; the only alteration being that Hunter is now available and takes his place again as wing, replacing Crawford. In the forwards Gorney (Inglewood) and Young (Stratford) replace Gargan and L Crawford as hookers. . Potaka, who was originally picked as secopd five-eighth in the Wanganui team, is not available and will be replaced by K. Gibbons, formerly a New Plymouth High School captain.
