WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT ENDS.

The final of the Wellington amateur billiards championship was played to-night. H. Shanks (Working Men’s Club) beat A. Wakem (Federal Club) by 500 to 461. It was a fine game and was in doubt until the finish. Wakem made the best break (65) during the game and Shanks made the best break of the championship with 81. A. Duncan made the second best with
The semi-finals resulted: —
Wakem (Federal Club) 300 beat Whyte (Wellesley Club) 287. The winner’s best breaks were 21, 29, 21, 24, 25 and 26, and those of the loser 33, 26, 22, 20 and 25. Shanks (Working. Men’s Club) 300 beat Duncan (R.S.A:) 204. The winner’s best breaks were 26, 43, 46 and 29, and those of the loser 20, 24, 14.
