Following the disappearance of the British youth Thorburn, the Chinese military authorities are now detaining Dr. Francis Tucker, head of the hospital of the American Board of Missions at Tchchow, North-west Shantung, as the result of the shooting and killing of a Chinese caught in the act of robbing the mission hospital. The local Kuomintang branch is demanding Dr. Tucker’s execution, an American apology, and an indemnity for the relatives of the dead Chinese.
