COST OF LIVING REDUCED
FEDERAL BASIC WAGE TO DROP.
BIGGEST CUT AT MELBOURNE.

The figures of the Commonwealth statistician show that the cost of living declined by up to 3s. per week in the quarter ended June 30. The basic wage will be reduced accordingly. The drops will be Is. 6d. per week in°SvdneV, 3s. in Melbourne, 6d. in Brisbane, 2s. 6d. in Adelaide, Is. in Perth, 2s in Hobart, less the 10 per cent, wage cut made by the Arbitration- Court in some industries.
