TARANAKI APPLICANT SUCCEEDS.
PUKEKURA BLOCK NEAR TE AUTE.

One of the largest land sales yet held by the Lands and Survey Department was completed at Napier this evening, when 2165 acres of Pukekura block, near Te Ante, were leased by ballot. The total number of applicants was 387, of which 237 went to ballot. Between 300 and 400 persons attended the ballot. The successful applicants were: Section 2, area 115 acres, capital value £1250, E. H. Annabell, Riverlea, Taranaki; section 3, 107 acres, £l5OO, W. T. Hicks, Otane; section 4, 520 acres, £3650, E. Campbell, Te Aute; section 5, 84 acres, £l5OO, E. M. Willis, Waipukurau; section 6. 521 acres, £3lOO, Mrs. A. O. Heffer, Dannevirke; 'section 7, 96 acres, £2050, R. E. Beveridge, Pukehou; section B,' 100 acres, £2550, Mrs. C. Brownrigg, Palmerston North;, section 9, 140 acres, £l5OO, R. Phillips, Pukehou; section 10, 472 acres, £3BOO, lan C. McPhail, Otane.
