"ALF’S BUTTON.” The immense popularity of the original story of “Alf’s Button” and the tremendous success of the film version are of course well known in all parts of the English speaking • world. This delightful comedy will be screened at Eltham to-night. With the idea of complete acceptability to the public the story has been tremendously enhanced by reason of the added appeal made possible by the addition of dialogue and sound. As those who have read the story of “Alf s Button will readily understand, the talkie medium offers far greater scope for the presentation of a subject like “Alf’s Button.” Deliciously humorous in itself, the new talkie version, with its spectacle, colour sequences, its lavish array of artists, each supreme in his or her individual sphere, its rich Cockney characterisations, and its total absence of anything suggesting the more tragic side of war make it a fine entertainment.
