LONDON COUNCIL’S PROPOSAL
BILL TO GO BEFORE COMMONS.

Bee. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, July 21. The London County Council has de* elded to promote another Bill in Parliament for the construction of a new bridge at Charing Cross at a cost of £12,500,000.. The advisory committee appointed after the rejection of the previous Bill by Parliament to consider various schemes advocated in connection with the proposal to replace the existing railway bridge issued its report some .'months ago. It reviewed six different to the problem but indicated that the balance of opinion favoured the scheme known a£ No. 6, on the level of the station on the site occupied by the Lion Brewery and the traffic circuses at the ends of the approaches to the road bridge. •The committee, however, was reconstituted to consider further another scheme, differing principally with regard to the level of tne station, and consequently whether the railway lines should be carried over or under the roads, but it has confirmed its previous decision. The council has now agreed to proceed with, scheme No. 6.
