MONTH’S GREAT PERFORMANCE RAIN INTERFERES WITH PLAY.

In county cricket Yorkshire, by handsomely defeating Nottinghamshire, accomplished the month’s most reinailiable performance, securing six wine a ni l one draw, and rising from seventh to first place on the championship table. Rain interfered with the last series of matches, the results of which are:— Lancashire v. Surrey. —Lancashire in the first innings lost nine wickets for 153. The mq.tch was drawn. ■ Sussex v. Leicester—Sussex in the first innings made 155 (Snary took foui wickets for 33), and in the seco- lost eight for 265 and declared (Duleepsinliji 91°). Leicester in the first innings made 66 (Tate took five for 42). Sussex won by I'B4 runs. Somerset v. Hampshire.—Somerset in the first innings made 119 (Kennedy took five for 57) and in the second 192. Hampshire in the first innings made 191 (White took five for 69), and in the second lost six for 121. Hampshire won by four wickets. Worcester v. Glamorgan—Worcester in the first innings made 100 (Ryan took seven for 52), and in the second 86 (Clay took five for 31). Glamorgan in the first innings made 140 and in the second lost three for 48. Glamorgan won by seven wickets. Warwick v. Northamptonshire.—Warwickshire in the first innings made 326 (Croom 105, Wyatt 85 not, out). Northamptonshire in the first innings made 174 (Bakewell 88) and followed on, making 82 (Paine took eight for 44). Warwick won by an innings and 70 runs. Nottinghamshire v. Yorkshire. —Nottinghamshire in the first innings made 201 (Walker 82; Bowes took seven for 80), and in the second 95 (Robinson took seven for 27). Yorkshire in the first innings lost six for 204 and declared (Holmes 133), and in the second lost one for 93. Yorkshire won by nine wickets.
Kent v. Middlesex. —Kent in the first innings made 263 (Durston took six for 66). Middlesex in the first innings made 110 (Freeman took five for 55, and followed on, making S 3 (Freeman look six. for 47). Kent won by an innings and 70 runs.
Gloucester v. Derbyshire.—Gloucester in the first, innings made 217 (Daere 90; Mitchell took six for 71", and in the second 191 (Hammond 81). Derbyshire in the first innings made 210 (Jackson 81; Goddard took eight for 79), and in the second ISO ('Parker took six for 64). Gloucester wou by 16 runs.
