DEBATING CIRCLE FORMED.
A meeting of members interested m forming a debating circle was held at the Women’s Club, New Plymouth, on Monday night. Miss Andrews was appointed convener, with Misses Home (secretary), McLean and McMillian to assist in drawing up a programme for the season. The circle will meet on the third Monday of each month. At the first meeting a prepared speech on a topic to be selected by the committee will be given by each member of the circle. For later months a debate, a talk on the conduct of meetings, discussions and impromptu speeches have been planned. The following names have been handed in for membership: Mesdames R. C. Brewster, C. H. Weston, W. C. Weston, Grayling, Moore, Andrew, Davie, T. Wilson, Courtenay, S. Allen and Church, Misses Douglas, Dowling, Home, Andrews, McMullan, McLean, Didsbury and Pym.
