William Clegg,aged 50,a Sydney solicitor, and Leila Smith, aged 37, his clerk, were committed for the for" mer on 14 charges and Smith on five charges of misappropriation of clients money. Detectives gave evidence that they had seen Clegg and Smith many tiroes at the races together.
