TO RELIEVE UNEMPLOYMENT
HALF EXPECTED FUNDS RECEIVED PROSECUTIONS HAVING EFFECT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Of a total sum of approximately £600,000 which it was expected would be derived for the relief of unemployment from the levy, £317.877 was paid into the Unemployment Boards fund during the two quarters ended May 31. That "included about £178,000 received durino- the first quarter, this amount including many cases in which the full year’s levy was paid in lump sums and others in which two years’ dues were P In reference to the amount collected for the second quarter being less than for the first quarter, it is stated that ar a result of prosecutions which are being made the shortage is being steadily overhauled and that the March payments are coming in in considerable numbers every day.
