The “India” tyre, although not quite so well known as some of its competitors, is rapidly increasing in popularity and in the short time since its introduction into laranaki has become a favourite with many Taranaki motorists. The “India” is manufactured in Glasgow, Scotland, by a firm founded solely on British capital. It is particularly suited to New Zealand conditions, and has begun a. new era of tyre economy since its introduction. Chi view is an “India” super cover, which has already done 30,000 miles on the rear wheel’ of a Thornycroft bus. Even so, the first breaker strip is just showing. The Wellington Express Company, in a, tribute to “India” tyres, states that on the rear wheels of their heavy lorries which average 1200 miles per week, they obtain from 50 to 7'5 per cent, more mileage and that they are not affected by heat. Only the finest of materials are used, and a glance at the tread of these masters of mileage certainly suggests service. These tyres are not loaded with heavy import duties, and certainly warrant a .tried.
