JURY PRONOUNCES THEIR GUILT

In the Supreme Court to-day Edward Patrick Leahy and Albert Bowen were found guilty of breaking and enteung the house of Allan I'raneis Caineron at Takapau and stealing goods valued at £8 2s (xl. They were remanded lor sentence. Mr. 11. B. Lusk, Crown Prosecutor, said the crime took place during the day, Bowen having been found in Cameron s house apparently busily packing a suitcase with goods. Leahy also was in the house and they said they had seen the house was unoccupied at the time, so they entered and took a few spots. Bowen asked Cameron to let them go and he refused; whereupon Bowen made au attempt to strike Cameron but Leahy stepped between them. Later Cameron attempted to ring the police but the accused prevented him. Bowen had a bottle of wine in his pocket and Cameron lifted this bottle our and hit Bowen over the head, breaking the bottle. This appeared to have uocffect on Bowen. Almost immediately a neighbour named McArthur came in and "ave Cameron a hand to resist the two accused, who refused to leave the house, one being armed with a rifle and one with a golf club. The accused also smashed the. windscreen of a motor-ear in the vicinity. I hey disappeared some time, later but were apprehended by the police. The jury returned a verdict of guilty wilhout leaving the box and Bowen and Leahy were remanded for sentence.
