HILLSBOROUGH NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The opening meeting of the recently formed Band of Hope was hold in the Hillsborough Hall on Saturday evening, when the Rev. R. B. Gosnell presided over an attendance of about 80 residents. A splendid programme had been arranged in which the following took part: Mr. and Mrs. Carey, Mr. Riley, Mrs. Warrington, Misses Lattie Sampson, Gladys Pearce, Dorothy Riley, Olive Carey, Nancy Colson, Horrie Stanley, Esther Bishop, Gwen Guilford, Colin Colson, Pat Locke, Colin Marsh. Eric Anderson, Snowy Barriball, Ray Bishop, Svril Hale and a chorus of children. "A short address on the objects of the Band of Hope and Temperance for Children was given by the chairman and at the close of the ‘concert several games organised by Mrs. Balsom and Miss Nicolls were much enjoyed, especially bv the voting people. A splendid supper provided by the Hillsborough ladies was spread, anil at the close, Mr. Carey on behalf of the visitors expressed their pleasure. Community singing led by Mr. Gosnell was a feature of the. evening's enjoyment, and the desire was expressed that the meetings continue during the winter months.
