By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Delhi, June 5.
A hundred rebels were killed and wounded in a fierce encounter with a detachment of the Punjab troops at Bankclaung, near Promo, Burma. The Punjabis surprised the rebels, who were estimated to number 300, in a jungle fortress and, after a burst of rapid lire, rushed the stockade. A grim hand-to-hand fight ensued, after which the insurgents fled in confusion. Many were captured, including the wounded leader. The Crown forces suffered no casualties.
