EVERYBODY’S TO-NIGHT. ZANE GREY SPECIAL. Paramount’s all talking version of Zane Grey’s popular novel, “The Light of Western Stars,” commenced a three night season at Everybody’s Theatre, New Plymouth, last night and was well received by the large audience present. Starring Richard Arlen, Alary Brian, Harry Green and Fred Kohler, it has all the elements of popular entertainment and no person young or old should miss it. The story deals with the attempt of the villain to confiscate the heroine’s property-and his death at the hands of the hero. The picture is packed with, comedy and action and provides -good entertainment. The supporting programme includes Australian movietone , news, “The Artist’s Reverie” (novelty), “The Rube” (short act), “In the Good Old Summertime” (bouncing ball song car-. I toon) and “Desperate Sam” (all talking comedy). THE REGENT. New Plymouth patrons are urged not'"’ to miss the big double-star bill now showing nightly at- The Regent, New; Plymouth. Love of money is at the bottom of all the youthful troubles in “Second Choice.” Dolores Costello, star of the all-talking picture, is—against tha will of her mother—in love with a pool; young man who returns her affection, until a certain rich girl temporarily alienates him and introduces real 1 tragedy into their lives. Aliss Costello’s supporting cast in “Second Choice” includes Chester Alorris, Jack Mulhall, Edna Murphy.

Should a father’s taste control the entire career of his son? In these days is it at all possible for him to do so? These questions form the basis for much of the action in "Is Everybody Happy?” which, marks the screen debut of the famous Ted Lewis, vaudeville’s “high-hatted, tragedian of jazz.” In Hungary Ted’s father had been the conductor of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Budapest, but when he brought his family te America he found it impossible to restrain his son from a growing devotion to the type of melody which typifies the restlessness and the vigorous spirit of the New World. To the father it spelled tragedy, but to Ted it became the symbol of his very existence. In “Is Everybody Happy?” Lewis is supported by Ann TLnnington and Alice Day, and his famous stage band. A movietone opens the programme.
