Bendir’s application to be paid £260,043 of the prize money of the Grand National sweepstake, Scala, Epicella and Constantino agreeing. A packed court listened to the opening of the great sweepstake suit, in which Antonio Epicella and Schoite Matteo Constantino claimed from Emilio Scala, a cafe-keeper, of. Mr. Gavin Duffy, counsel for plaintiffs, said his clients claimed to be Scala’s partners, under a written agreement concerning two books of tickets, for which they paid a third share. There was a third book in which they had a common interest, but Scala was entitled to dispose of some of the tickets in it. The winning ticket was one of two free tickets, to which the seller of the book was entitled. When the agreement was made all the ticket numbers were included.
