“SLIMMING” FOR MEN.

FAT A TERRIBLE THING. Men are “slimming” as enthusiastically as women to-day, and in the opinion of Sir William Arbuthnot Lane', the health specialist, they are adopting a wise course. He said recently to a Daily Mail reporter; “Men are being educated up to the beneficial results of slenderness, not so much from a point of view of looks as for the improvement in health which it brings about. Fat is a terrible thing which kills people long before they were intended to die. Fat is usually caused by eating the wrong food and by lack of exercise. It is always foolish to carry things too far; but in moderation ‘slimming’ is an excellent practice which I am glad to see many men a. r taking up. It is not a question of ‘going in for fads.’ There is no harm in eating plenty if it is the right type of food, such as fruit, lettuce, cabbage, and other clean, natural dishes. Exercise should not be strenuous, but should be regular. How can a man who sits in an office •all day and stuffs himself with solid stodge hope to remain healthy. To live as many men do to-day is sheer •suicide.’’

A Harley Street specialist said that he was consulted by as many men as women anxious to take courses in •‘‘slimming.”
