WEDDING.

NEES—CAREY. At St. Joseph’s Church, Eltham, on Tuesday, April 21, Ethel, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Carey, Brookside Farm, Lower Stuart Road, Eltham, was married to George Leonard, second son of Mr. and Airs. D. Nees, C]ii<selhurst, Eltham. The -Rev. Father McDermott officiated and celebrated nuptial mass. The bride entered the church escorted by her father to the strains of the Bridal March. She was gowned in an ivory brocaded taffeta frock, ankle length, tight-fitting bodice, long sleeves, and had a French georgette cape falling from the shoulder to waist at the back. Her embroidered tulle veil was daintily arranged on a silk foundation and held in place at the back of the neck with a wreath of orange blossoms extending from ear to ear. She carried a shower bouquet of white begonias, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Her only ornaments were a beautiful rope of French pearls and ear-rings. The bridesmaid, Miss Nora Sheehy, was attired in a cornelli green georgette frock, flowing to the ankles and with long sleeves. The French frills which adorned her frock were arranged in vertical lines on the bodice and correspondingly on the foot of the skirt. She wore a French model velour felt hat of the same tone, slightly turned off the face and underlined with dainty petals in apricot and green. She carried a bouquet of apricot begonias and dahlia and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Lawrence Nees. The altar and sanctuary were decorated by the Sisters of the Convent. The choir, of whom the bride is a member, rendered the music for the Mass. The organist, Mrs. O’Hagan, played the Wedding March as the bridal party left the church.

Mrs. W. Carey, the bride’s mother, wore a frock of black crepe-de-chine, relieved with fawn, and black hat, and carried a bouquet of dark red begonias and autumn leaves.

Mrs. D. Nees, the bridegroom’s mother, was attired in a frock of delphinium blue wool crepe-de-chine and hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of pink chrysanthemums, roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom’s gift ix> the bride was a marmot stole, and to the bridesmaid a necklace and ear-rings of carnellian stones and French pearls. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a travelling suitcase. The couple left for Christchurch, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a brown costume and hat to tone.
