Further .flooding of the Hunter River district has ceased, the river having fallen six feet. The Hexham fiat country resembles a huge inland lake. All the roads in this area are impassable. An engine left the rails at Allyndale arid a shunter, Owen Smith, was crushed to death underneath it. The river at Lismore rose 2G feet above normal., The lower parts of the town arc under water. The river is now receding. ‘ Torrential rain fell over the south coast district of Queensland and all the creeks and rivers arp in heavy flood, on the New South Wales coast with more heavy falls of rain and rough seas in the Tasman. Forecasts indicate unsettled weather
