MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A fire on the Ihaia Road destroyed a six-roomed dwelling owned by Mr. J. Feaver senr. and occupied by Mr. Gordon Harvey, share-milker. The Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild entertained Miss Goldsbury and Mr. J. S. Tosland on Wednesday night at the marise. The evening was a “kitchen gathering.” Games and vocal items were enjoyed. The Rev.. J. G. Wheatley, on behalf of those present, wished the guests happiness. A meeting'of primary school teachers interested in school football was held on Friday evening. The meeting decided to recommend a ten-a-side competition in preference to seven-aside as the latter was more strenuous for the juveniles. The weight limit was recommended as nine stone. The Opunake Golf Club’s members have taken advantage of the fine weather to visit the links. In the medal competition F. Julian’s was the best score—B1 —18 —63. The ladies club has re-elected Mrs. R. J. Morris captain. The girls’ hockey club members are putting in good practise. The club has an enthusiastic membership. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Trotter spent six weeks’ holiday in the South Island, visiting relatives and inspecting the most important works in progress in Southland and Canterbury. ■ Mrs. G. Baylis is a patient in the -New Plymouth hospital. Mrs Connor, Waiteika, is also in the hospital.
