M. HERRIOT AND SOCIALISTS
RE-ELECTED TO MAYORALTY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Parle, April 26. A message from Lyons states that Al, Herriot has- been re-elected Alayor. He at first refused to act as the two deciding votes were given by opponents, and he declared that it was impossible to administer the town’s affairs unless he had a complete majority, but a second ballot, in which 11 councillors abstained, confirmed the election. M. Herriot thus retained a post he has held for a quarter of a century. AL Herriot resigned the Mayoralty of Lyons in consequence of a sweeping -Socialist victory at the primary elections of members of the Senate to represent the Rhone department. The victory of the Socialists was due to the breaking up of their old alliance with the Radical-Socialists, of whom AL Herriot is the leader.
