Mindful that the dictator De Estella increased Ministerial salaries by 10,000 pesetas the Ministers have refused to increase theirs until the Cortes decides whether the increase is warranted. The Minister of War is reducing the number of army officers and has ordered that there be no further admissions to the military academy for 1931. The Papal Nuncio visited the Munster of Justice and assured him that the church desired to collaborate with the Government in maintaining order, and he hoped the republic would respect the rights of religion. The only petty side of the magnificent- victory is the almost maniacal destruction of royalist emblems. Shops hastily obliterated coats of arms formerly proudly displayed. The Minister of Finance has forbidden members of the Royal family and relatives to the fourth degree to sell property until Crown property has been taken over by the republic, which is offering palaces and gardens to the municipalities'. The Cabinet is reducing the voting of men from ’25 to 23 years, biingii°o- into the ranks of the Republicans numbers of students and yo mg cn thusiasts.
