SMALLPOX AT CALCUTTA
CITY IN GRIP OF EPIDEMIC.
WORST EXPECTED NEXT MONTH.

.'he city is in the grip of a smallpox epidemic, which began on February 4 and to Saturday caused 167 deaths. Thirty thousand vaccinations have been undertaken weekly by the Government doctors alone, besides thousands by private practitioners. Th-' worst of the epidemic is expected three weeks hence. Thus far only a few Europeans have been attack* ed by the disease.
