BETTY WINS SECOND RACE
THE SANDERS MEMORIAL CUP. By Telegraph.—Prfiss Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The second yachting race for the Sanders Memorial Cup was sailed on Otago harbour this afternoon in a stroiio- north-east wind and a fairly heavy sea. The competing boats sailed four .times over a triangular course. The race resulted in the Wellington boat Betty, registering her second win by 2min. iisec. The Auckland boat, Avalon, fouled the weather mark in the first round and retired. This robbed the race of interest as there ’ ’d been a close and exciting race between.the Wellington and Auckland boats. There were many thrilling incidents when the boats were running before the wind and several narrow escapes from capsizing. The sailing times were: Betty. Ihr. 51min. 25sec.; Colleen, Ihr. 53min. 30 sec.; Rona, 2hrs. Sijiin. 305e0.; Eileen, 2hrs. 4min. 40sec.
