EARTHQUAKE RELIEF CONCERT.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) A very successful benefit concert and dance which was arranged by the ladies of Mokau and held in the Mokau ° n Wednesday, February 11, terminated m a net profit of £l4 5s 6d, which ha? been forwarded on through the local post office to the Government relief fiind. Items wefe given by the following Artists: Piano solo, Mr. Richard?; song, Mrs. Carrington; song, Mr. Northern; son"; Mrs. May; duet, Messrs. McNiece and Smith; club swinging, Mrs, Vezey; song, Mr. Crane; comic song, Mrs. Piko; son" Mr. Ridling; ballet, Misses Hansen, Stewart, Sampson and Pi,k o > song, Miss Kilpatrick; recitation, Miss Hogarth; song, Mrs. Townley; song, Mr. Ridling; piano solo, Miss Rowe; duet, Mc srs. McNiece and Carrington; song, Mrs. A. Hamblyn; piano solo, Mr. Richards; duet, Miss Hansen and Mrs. Burty; song, Mrs. Burty. Accompaniments were played by Mesdames McNiece, Taylor, Black and Miss I. Hansen. Dancing followed- until the early hours of the morning. The funds for earthquake relief are steadily increasing. A list which was taken up the Mokau river produced approximately £3O, while there is a lipt at Mr. F. Northern’s store. The past earthquakes have been felt with much severity in this district, although no damage is reported. Schnapper are more plentiful in the river, and some good catches have been reported. .. . The weather has been changable some heavy showers falling which were very beneficial to the , farmers. The supply at the factory shows a general decline. .
