THE NAPIER HOSPITAL
RECONSTRUCTION PROPOSED.
DAMAGE OVER-ESTIMATED.
.An indication of the serious attitude being adopted in . regard to . rebuilding was given on Wednesday by the chairman of the Napier Relief Committee, Mr. C. O. Morse, who is also chairman of the Hospital Board. He said that he was investigating the ' possibility of having the hospital reconstructed on the present site and a telegram was read from the Minister 1 of Health, Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, stating that he was going into the question.
It . has been ascertained after an inspection of the parts of the hospital still standing that they are not as badly damaged as appeared at first and it is stated by Mr. F. W. Furkert, engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department, and Mr. J. “Mair, the Government architect, that they can be repaired - without extensive -structural renewal, -
