ORAPAI IN A CANTER
GOOD FINISH FOR SECOND PLACE. Orapai was backed dowp to a shade of odds-on in the Takaora Handicap, but justified the confidence placed m Jnin and won in a canter. Tea Queen and Chief Savage staged /an interesting duel ,for second place, Bert Morris getting the thrce-year-old home by a neck. Moving off in a fair line, Orapai, Chief Savage and Tea Queen were showing up, but at the end of a furlong Crapai was clear of Tea Queen, Chief Savage, Anbridge, Winacre, Hinewai and Arvada. The field bqhched on the bend, but Orapai showed the way into, straight, from Tea Queen, Winacre, Chief Savage, Anbridge, Hinewai and Arvadal Tea Queen challenged the favourite, blit as soon a? Cray gave Orapai his head he ran away frbjn the field. and had to be pulled back, to win by a length from Chief Sa.vagb, with Tea Queen a neck away. Anbridge was a_ good fourth followed J>y Winacre; Kentisn Lad, Goldzone and Kissless. Orapai had the race won at any stage and was a class above any of those he met. Chief Savage rail a\ solid race, and whs well handled by B. H. Morris, who rode 31b. overweight. His turn is not Ur o ff - Tea Queen had evpry chance, and none of th e others threatened danger.
