ISA BEATS EASTERTIME

THREE-YEAR-OLD’S ADVANTAGE.

With the advantage of a year and a pound in the weights, it was not surprising to see Isa beat Easter Time in the Juvenile, and the winner was additionally suited by the distance. Isa iegan well and so did the favourite, but he appeared to receive a bump on the bend and had to concede the Absurd filly too much start in the run home. Paparua and Sporting Chance were troublesome at the barrier, and when the tapes went up Open Cheque was squeezed back to last. Isa and Easter Time, who both improved their positions at the barrier, began well and, when they settled down Isa was bowling along clear of Proud Moor, Easter Time, Nimble and Sporting Chance, with Open Cheque moving up fast. Isa was still clear coming into the straight, and when they straightened up she was two lengths ahead of Nimble, Easter Time and Open Cheque, with a big break to Barbacan and Gaysogne. Isa was not troubled in the run home and won by a length and a half from Easter Time, with Open Cheque two lengths away, a hose in front of Nimble. Sporting Chance, Compulsory, Peter Jackson and Gaysogne were next. Isa won very comfortably, but five furlongs is about her limit. Easter Time ran a good race, but was not too lucky. He should improve, and an extra furlong would suit him better. Open Cheque received the worst of the start and should show up to more advantage to-morrow.
