TRADE INDUSTRY DISPUTE
MR. MACDONALD INTERMEDIARY. HOPE FOR SETTLEMENT REVIVED. (British Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. ' Rugby, Jan. 28. The Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay Macdonald, has invited representatives- of the employers’ and operatives’ organisations in the Lancashire cotton dispute to meet him at London to-morrow*, and hopes of an, early settlement have been revived. It is anticipated that the Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Labour, will in the first instance meet each side separately. It is recalled that Mr. Macdonald’s decision in somewhat similar circumstances in the dispute in 1929 resulted iu a settlement by arbitration.
