TRAFFIC IN OIL SHARES
SHAREMARKET QUOTATIONS. FLUCTUATIONS THIS-WEEK. There have been many fluctuations of dil shares' oh the stock exchanges this year, though they have in the main been of a minor nature.
■ At .Auckland Taranaki Oil has- undergone a number of minor vicissitudes. Throughout last week buyers 'were offering 2s to 2s 6d and sellers were asking 3s to 3s- 6d, the quotations changing daily. Strangely enough the only New Zealand sale recorded that week was at Wellington, where 3b 6d was secured. Last Monday buyers opened at Auckland at 2s 2d and sellers at 3s. Buyers improved to 2s 6d on Tuesday and Wednesday and 2s 0d yesterday, sellers also advancing to3s (kl, going back to 3s, then increasing to 3s Cd yesterday. The only New- Zealand sale recorded was at 3s Id at Auckland on Wednesday. Moturoa Oil was quoted at 5s for sellers, with ■no offers from buyers, when the Auckland stock exchange opened early in January. Last week and all this week up till Wednesday sellers had declined to 4s, still with no quotation for buyers, and yesterday there was a further decline to 3s. At that price a sale was recorded on the Auckland Exchange. Blenheim Oil was not quoted at all on the Auckland exchange until ’ last Wednesday, when it entered the list at £4 for sellers and no offers from buyers. This -was the position at Auck-land-yesterday, when the Taranaki Exchange reported sales of Blenheim Oil at 4-ss, and gave the quotations as 45s for buyers and 50s for sellers. 'There was “nothing doing” in oil on the Wellington exchange until last Tuesday, when the recent development at the bore of the Blenheim Oilwells Co. in Taranaki brought inquiry for oil ■shares. There was a speculative bid of £■2 for Blenheim Oil. Moturoa Oil shares were wanted at 3s and Taranaki Oil were also wanted at 35.. .No oil shares Were: offering yesterday. On ■Wednesday the demand at Wellington for oil. shares eased. Blenheim Oil at 37s Cd were 2s 6d down, but there were no sellers. Taranaki Oil were 3d down at 2s 9d. Moturoa Oil, 3s paid, were on sale at ss, with no buyers.
