Unemployed disorders of a serious character culminated to-day in. violence. The police -used batons and the Communists fought with sticks. Ten arrests were made. Two police and two Communists were sent to hospital. , Sixty-five men, including Communists, yesterday took ptteseesion of the Government Resident’s verandah, hoisted the red flag and demanded two days’ work instead of one. They were told this was impossible and they defied th« authorities till to-day, when special constables were requisitioned to help uniform police who ejected the Communists and kept them on the run. Quiet has been restored.
