“OUR JOBS AND OUR FAITH”

LAMENT OF UNEMPLOYED.

SOME ASK TO BE LOCKED UP.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Auckland, Last Night. Unemployed demonstrating in Auckland this morning carried through the city streets a wreath-covered coffin bearing the inscription: “Gone; our jobs and our faith in the Forbes Government.” Carrying banners, the procession, which finally reached a strength of 300, marched to . the Trades Hall, where the unemployment problem was discussed by various speakers. Following the Trades Hall meeting about 100 men called at the police sta 7 tion and asked to be locked up. Their request was refused. One of the senior officers told the men that they could not be locked up as long as they were law-abiding. The men then sang the “Red Flag” and, re-forming the procession, marched away shouting, “We want work.”
