AUSTRALIA’S EMPTY SPACES. ENLIGHTENED CHINESE VIEWS. By Talegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Sydney, January 15. The Consul-General for China, Mr. Chih, said it was the view of enlightened Chinese that soon Australia must open its empty spaces in the North to regulate a scheme of Chinese and general Eastern immigration. This he claimed could be done without disturbing Australia’s social order and by protective legislation as thought fit.
