APPROVAL OF PROGRAMME.

A meeting of the Waitara Regatta Club committee was held on Wednesday, when it was decided to hold the regatta on March 7, tins being the most suitable date for other clubs.

The programme committee submitted its proposed programme, for rowing, speed boats, etc., and after slight al- ~ terations it was adopted. Owing to the paucity of entries for swimming last year and the evidence of swimming enthusiasm this, year it was decided to delete swimming events. The harbour board is to be asked for temporary control of the river and wharf on the day and the borough council for permission to screen the bridge., It was decided to ask the Retailers’ Association to consider closing ! their shops on the day from 11 to three o’clock. :

Tho Freezing Workers’ Union is to be asked to arrange for one of its holidays for regatta day. The matter of procuring the use of two launches for umpires and police was left ia the hands of the secretary. •
