DENBIGH ROAD SCHOOL

BREAKING-UP ceremony. The breaking-up function was held at the Denbigh Road school on Friday afternoon. A large number of parents and friends attended. A programme of dances and gongs was rendered by the pupils, the standard of whieh reflected credit on the teacher, Miss A. Mace. Two tiny ..pupils,. Joyce Neilson and Aileen Anderson, recited creditably. The chairman, Mr. C. Langlands, after extending a welcome to all present, presented each pupil with a book. Certificates from the Education Board for good attendance were presented to the followng: —David G-andje, Phyllis Gooch. Joyce Neilson, John Gdndle, Esther Gooch, Hilda Handle, Ernest Candle, Etambtt Gboeh.

Then' came the big event. Santa ClauS, old and bdnt (Mr. J. Graham), gaVe ed<!h child a- present from the Christina? tree. He had assuredly received hiß mail from Denbigh Road, its each pupil received exactly what he or ghe had written and asked him for in an essay the previous week. Santa Claus did not forget those children who are yet too young to attend sohpol; nor did he forget Miss Mac.e, to whom he presented a xylonite mirror. Three lusty cheers for Santa Claus by the children Closed the inside programme and all adjoufned to the grounds for sweet scrambles and races. Peter Thomson donated the sweets. Afternoon tea was supplied by the ladies.
