“EXAMPLE OF DISCIPLINE”
ITALY’S REDUCED SALARIES.
MUSSOLINI’S ECONOMIC PLANS..
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rome, Ifec. 19.
Reviewing Italy’s position on the occasion of the passage of a Bill effecting an all-round reduction in the salaries of Government employees, Signor Mussoline said that in view of the fact that many Italians thought that distress existed only in Italy he had given instructions last-August to relax the passport restriction’s on .emigrants for everywhere' but America.
; At first many took advantage of the concession, but now the number entering Italy was greater" than those departing. Since reduced wages and prices had been enforced the Italian people had given a magnificent example-of discipline. Referring to the deficit of 900,000,000 lire he said that it was impossible, to increase taxation; therefore the position must be met by a reduction of' taxation.
