Mrs. J. W. Ci’Qwe, Stratford, who has been in the Marire hospital for three weeks, underwent a serious operation last Wednesday and is progressing satisfactorily.

Curtis. * * * A successful bridge evening was held at Mrs- O- Curtis’ residence on Friday night, funds being in aid of the new golf pavilion. Fifteen, tables were in play. ' Present were Mesdames L. On Monday afternoon Miss Manu Porritt was hostess at an afternoon tea party at the “Medina’’ for Miss Muriel Young, The table and surroundings were decorated in pink, the guest of honour’s- favourite colour. All those invited presented her with pink gifts Among those present were Misses Joan Coleman, Molly Malone, M, Wright-, G. North, D. Polson, B. Flemming, C. Uniacke, M, Skoglund, N. Spence, D. Riddle, A. Riera and Penn, Mrs. E, S. Rutherf urd and Mrs. Besley.

On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. D. Malone and Mrs. A. Colemail were hostesses at a kitchen tea for Miss Muriel Young. On arriving the guest of honour was presented by Miss Joan’Coleman and Miss Molly Malone with a bouquet of pink roses. Among those present were Mesdames G. Hall, E. S. Mrs. W, H. H. Young was hostess at a dance on Thursday night at her residence, Brecon Road. A pleasant time was spent dancing on the lawn. The guests were Mrs, E, S.
