One dark, wintry night of raging storm and terrific cold was all that Rear-Admiral Byrd and his forty-two intrepid companions spent in, the dangerous wastes of Little America, 750 miles from the South Pole —but that night lasted eix months. During those winter months the men of the Byrd expedition were active, and the record of their adventures is shown in vivid reality in the. Paramount feature picture “With Byrd at the South Pole,’’ screened to a large audience , at the Grand Theatre, Hawera, last night. It required a constant struggle with the .elements to .live. Feats of daring heroism were everyday affairs.
