A message from Naples states that Mr. J. H. Scullin, Australian Prime Minister, sailed on the Ormonde for Australia.

McLeavy, galmerston North. The Taranaki Hospital Board yesterday appointed Dvs., J. S. Chureh and WJ. Reid, as part-time anaesthetists and Drs. D. R. L. Stevenson (Dunediri) and D. O. Orchard (Christchurch) as house Surgeons. Further examination results reveal that in the final medical professional examination Mr. H. E. Wright (Palmerston North). 1 A Gisborne message reports the death of Mr. Cecil de Lautour, aged 85, one of Gisborne’s earliest citizens, and for.. A time Mayor of the town. Mr. de Lautour. arrived in Auckland, in 1863 and went to Central Otago, where he engaged in pastoral pursuits and journalism, becoming editor, and part proprietor of the Mount Ida Chronicle. He was elected to the Provincial Council in 1874 and gat till the abolition of the provinces. From 1876 till 1884 he represented Mount Ida in the House of Representatives, subsequently removing to the North Island and opening a legal practice at Gisborne which he maintained for many years. He occupied many public offices, including the presidency of the North Island Freezing Works Association.
