TRANS-SHIPPED IMPORTS.

(To The Editor.) Sir.—While Taranaki importers should, and I think as Ur as possible do, patronise the Port of New Plymouth, the delay in receiving from Wellington is vexatious. Here is a case in point: The Remuera from London arrived at Wellington on December 1 and goods landed there arrived in Stratford per rail on Saturday, December 6. Goods ex the same Ship transhipped to New Plymouth only partly arrived in Stratford on December 12. ‘importers usually cannot afford this delay and are almost forced to have the goods consigned to Wellington. This is a matter, I think, to which the Harbour Board might give serious consideratiori. One realises, of course, that our harbour will never be of full benefit until several boats a year from London can make New Plymouth first port of call, but in the meantime speeding up transhipments from Wellington would be appreciated.—-I am, etc., x IMPORTER.
