Oh the anniversary of Trafalgar Day, October 21, a naval wedding of New Zealand interest was solemnised at St. David’s Church, Howey, Disserth Llandrindod Wells, hit occasioned much interest locally as well, for the bi idegroom belongs to a very well-known Welsh family. The bridegroom was Paymaster-Lieut. Commander James Henry Bankes Herbert, R.N., late of; H.M.S. Hermes, youngest son of the Rev. J, Lloyd Herbert, Rector, of Disserth, and Mrs. Herbert. The bride was, Miss Constance Ethel Ledger, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L, F. Ledger, Christchurch. The bride was escorted by her cousin, Dr. Derek Denny-Brown, New Plymouth. The wedding gown was of ivory embossed brocade with veil of' rare old family lace forming a long train, which had been worn by the r bride’s greatgrandmother. It was becomingly arranged and held by a wreath of orange blossom. A pearl necklace and a naval brooch in diamonds and platinum (gifts of the bridegroom) were worn, and a bouquet of pink roses, pink carnations and white heather was carried. Miss Joan Auten, the little daughter of Captain H. Auten, V.C., R.N.R., and Mrs. Auten (London), was bridesmaid. She wore a frock of old family lace over pink- taffetas, with large pink sash and an uncommon Caucasian head-dress or pale pink,, embroidered in-pearls. ...■ The wedding cake was attractively decorated 'with emblems appropriate to the navy and to New Zealand. After the reception the couple left for their honeymoon, which is being spent on a motor tour in Scotland.
