MANGOREI DISTRICT NEWS
A meeting of th© Korito and Kent Road Ladies’ Guild, which was formed to assist the district nurse, was held at the home of the president, Mrs. Parker, on Thursday. There were present Mesdames Corney, Peters, Plummer, Ekdahl, Balsom, Parker and Kemp. It was agreed that each member during the summer should take home a garment to make, and it was hoped that through next winter output would be considerably increased. The Lower Mangorei and Fitzroy school cricket teams met on Wednesday at Fitzroy. Owing to the late hour of starting the second innings was not completed. Mangorei was capt: ined. by M. Bowen and Fitzroy by Claud Drury. The scores were; First innings, Mangorei 19, Fitzroy 7; second innings, Mangorei 40, Fitzroy lost three for 15. For!
Mangorei the chief scorer was A. Weir (8 and 16) and the bowlers in the first innings were N. Bowen (7 for 5 runs), and T. Davis (3 for 2). Fitzroy’s beet ‘batsmen were Richardson, Hopkinson, Inch and Alsopp, and bowlers Drury, Stuart and Erb. Mr. and Misses Goldsbury epent last week-end in Wanganui.
