TAUMARUNUI PROSPECTS

TO-DAY’S FIELDS UNDER REVIEW. (By “Moturoa.”) The Taumarunui meeting will open today and conclude to-morrow. Some form has been shown at the recent Waikato and Takapuna meetings and winners should not be difficult to sort out. The card opens with the

Glena Bay raced well at the Waikato meeting and is sure to be improved, but the spring form of Sea Cob reads well, and this pair may be too experienced for a newcomer in Marble King. TRIAL PLATE. Goodfellow star Lupin Gallant Jack Searcher Gold Day Valmarle Grand Talk Valslmon Holly Holm Wee Prince Illuminagh War Ace King Vai None of these has a great deal of form, but Gay Cavalier, Gold Day, Holly Holm, Merry Mason, Valmarie and Valsimon are considered fair sorts, and it will not surprise if Valmarie is the pick of this bunch.

Snow Prince races fairly consistently and Ruling Chief has a reputation, which has been very expensive in the past. Rose Lupin goes well and King Lu is on the up grade, while Abbey Queen and Land Measure also appear to hold fair prospects. However, Ruling Chief, Rose Lupin and King Win may be the best of these. The main event is the

Valsier missed at Waikato, but Ids form has been fairly consistent during the season and he must be expected. Cruachan is now taking on open company and Mosque makes more appeal. Then there is Hakanoa, who runs well at these country gatherings. Ohiqemuri and Trishna appear the best of the others but it looks as if Mosque, Hakanoa and Cruachan will do best.

The majority of these claim earlier engagements and. stay-at-home bettors would do well to let this event pass. Over “five,” Ruling Chief, King Win, Rose Lupin and Abbey Queen all go fast, but Ruling Chief may be the hardest if reserved. , ,

Sir Mond won a race at Takapuna, but his form this season has not been as good as expected. Thurnus is consistent and Archieval, Gay Caballero and Stonehenge have been running good races lately. Stonehenge, Sir Mond and Arcbieval read as well as anything.
