UNITED STATES BUDGET
HEAVY DEFICIT ANTICIPATED. PROVISION FOR UNEMPLOYED. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Washington, Dee. 3. In recom'mdndiiig to Congress to-day a 3,932,842,000 dollar Budget for the next fiscal year President* Hoover opposed the continuance of reduced income taxes. He reiterated a prediction that there would be a, 180,000,000 dollar deficit; this year and issued a warning that : if the appropriations looked beyond action - during’ the /next six months to alleviate unemployment and drought distress it would result in another deficit in 1032. He supplemented his request, for 150,000,000 dollars for'unemployment' by an emergency appropriation for construction work with a proposal for 132,000,000 dollars to be spent on public buildings. Before the close of the hext fiscal year the ’ United States will spend 690,000,000 dollars on national defence if Congress approves of the estimates, which are nearly 34,000,000 dollars less than in the current year,, but the contemplated- use of unexpended balances would almost offset the decrease. Fifteen' million dollars are required for anti-liquor 'smuggling activities of the coastguard.
