Alleging the existence of a secret organisation preparing primes against the Government the police arrested 24 internationals, including the elderly American-born Signora de Bosia,/widow of the Italian poet, and translator of Shelley. • ■ .' ■■■'• . ' V ? ' • . A printing press was found under Signora Bosia’s bed and she, was accused of disseminating leaflets exposing the wrongs perpetrated under Fascism.
Others, arrested are Renzo Rcndi, correspondent of the New York Evening Post, arid Mario Verieguerra, translator of English books. ’■ \ The . arrests astonished the ; English and American colony, as several had Artglo-American literary - ’ connections. The accused were handed over for trial by a special tribunal. Communist conspiracies have been discovered in the Emila and Ramagnano districts and -numerous arrests ;made.
