LADIES’ LIFE-SAVING CLUB
OPENING EVENING MEETING. A fair attendance of members of the New Plymouth Ladies’ Life-Saving Club and visitors from other clubs was at the opening club night at the baths last night. The water was rather cold but the baths were well filled. A number of events was decided. Alter the races the president, Miss J. Taylor, presented the trophies. j' A short exhibition of life-saving was
given by Misses M. Downes, N. Gardiner, M. Barlow and D. Cock. Results of the races are:— One length breast stroke, judged by Mrs. H. Avery on style.—Miss M. Downes 1, Miss N. Gardiner 2. One length handicap.—Miss N. Gardiner (L.L.S.C.) 1, Miss J. Charters (Fitzroy) 2. Times, 32 J sec. and 25sec.
