If taking snuff is really going, to be the faehion, writ'es a Londoner, come new items will be added to the recipe book. Mixing snuff was an art studied by ladies of the eighteenth century. Th© finely-ground and pounded leaves of the tobacco plant could be treated in various ways. High-dried snuffs had the finest flavour, and then there was th© important matter of scenting to suit the fastidious.
