BONUS TO COUNTY ENGINEER. Appreciative reference to the work of the county engineer (Mr. S. C. Judd) during the six months that he has had charge of the outside operations of the Inglewood Comity Council was made by members of the council yesterday. ’ The ehairman (Mr. A, Corkill) congratulated the engineer on the economical and systematic way in which he had carried out the work. The metalled roads had !iever been in better condition than at present, he said. Moreover, Mr. Judd had intioduced an up-to-date costing system. The engineer stated that .Once the running surface of the roads mentioned had received attention they would not require much attention for five years. He had also been investigating the metnl pits in the county and was satisfied that there were ample supplies of good liietal available for the requirements of. the roads in Taranaki and Wanganui. With the power grader constantly at work the roads equid be kept in splendid order.. Even though the staff had been considerably reduced the roaflq were in a very satisfactory condition.
